The emphasis for this year’s basketballscotland RAF National Player Development Camps will be “Excellence”. Everything we do at camp will be focused entirely on providing the best development opportunities for the players, coaches and staff who attend our camp. The position of camp counsellor is essential to the success of this approach. Assistant Coach/Counsellors seeking to help deliver these opportunities to our players must accept responsibility to do and represent the following:
- At all times, assistant coach/counsellors should role model positive and team-oriented behaviour to players, coaches, staff, and all guests throughout camp.
- Adhere to all camp policies, procedures and employee expectations.
- Accept the responsibility for specific actions as directed by the Head Coach or Camp Director.
- Assist with coaching sessions as requested by Head Coach.
- Act as the first point of contact for campers with any concerns / home sickness.
- Ensure that campers are at the required venues on time.
Monitor the behaviour of campers and ensure adequate standards of behaviour are maintained. - Patrol dormitory corridors at ‘lights out’ to ensure campers are adhering.
- Assist with camper registration and room allocation.
- Be alert to potential hazardous situations and follow established emergency procedures when required.
- Assist in the storage or equipment after training and competition sessions.
- Assist in packing all materials and supplies at end of camp.
- Carry out duties as reassigned or added as required.
